We also know that every teacher engages and motivates his or her students in their own unique way. And while some courses may share common materials, one may choose to inspire a little differently from that of another.
Whether it's the lab team debating theories of learning or the designers discussing emotional engagement, we make only one assumption about Atheni users – each is different.
A one-size-fits-all Learning Space is not an option for us – at Atheni, learning is personal.
Learning is more than just access to information.
We each perform better when we're motivated, and we're receptive to new ideas when those around us inspire us and share our goals. We know that engagement makes a positive difference when exploring the unknown, whether individually or collaboratively.
That's why we're continuously looking for ways to help students and teachers engage with each other, and for students to learn alongside and with the help of other students.
For us, engagement is everything.
Whether we're creating a new interactive view, providing support for users, or presenting key analytics to users – we know effective communication requires a clear message.
Sometimes that means we focus on the message, but more often than not it also means simplification and removing of unnecessary clutter or 'noise' from the background. We've learnt that achieving this requires taking the time to understand 'the big picture' for each user, so they never miss out on the small but important details.
At Atheni, we couldn't agree more with Professor Einstein: "Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler".
